Technology from China, Made More Secure in the US

Prescient brings new thinking to a seemingly intractable problem— how to mitigate the cybersecurity risks of using technology from foreign countries.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 26, 2013) — The US and China are indispensible trading partners, but their relationship is now being described as a "cold war in cyberspace." Beyond the rhetoric and accusations, there is a very hard problem to solve. We live in a globalized technology environment, and it will become increasingly difficult for companies and governments to simply avoid products from other parts of the world— particularly when that means losing out on innovation, efficiency gains, and cost savings.

Prescient T700S-FW High-Definition VTC

Since its inception in 2011, Prescient has been working on solutions to the problem of how to ease security concerns over Chinese and other foreign-made technology products. For example, Prescient recently helped Chinese technology giant ZTE enhance the security of a video teleconferencing system by adding US-built and installed security measures.

Prescient's Director, Jerry Caponera, is at RSA and available for interview and comment. For an announcement of the successful launch of the Prescient T700S-FW High-Definition VTC, see this link. Caponera will give presentations on Prescient at the CyberMaryland Booth (#216 in the Moscone Center) at 1:30PM PST on Feb. 26, and again at 2:00PM PST on Feb. 27. He may be contacted at any time through the CyberMaryland Booth.
