CyberPoint among Daily Record's "Innovators of the Year"

BALTIMORE, MD (August 12, 2013) — CyberPoint's Jerry Caponera was named one of The Daily Record's Innovators of the Year for 2013 in recognition of his achievements with Prescient.

"It's a great honor for all of us," says Caponera, CyberPoint's General Manager of Global Partnerships and Director of Prescient. "We're excited about our new approach to bringing global innovation to new markets through improved security designed and built in the US. We're especially gratified to see a media outlet like the Daily Record take notice."

The Daily Record began the Innovator of the Year awards in 2002 as a way to recognize Marylanders and Maryland-based companies for their innovative spirit — for creating new products, new programs, new services or new processes that have helped their companies, industries or communities.

The awards will be presented to 25 innovators on Wednesday, October 2, which coincides with the 125th anniversary of the founding of The Daily Record.

"It is fitting that The Daily Record honors 25 forward-thinking leaders on the 125th anniversary of our newspaper's founding," said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. "In 1888, The Daily Record was itself an innovator by providing very focused information to its readers. Since then, the newspaper has continued to innovate by providing readers with news and information in platforms that are most convenient for them to use."

Innovator of the Year nominees were asked to complete an application that explained their innovation and the impact is had made on Maryland. The nominations were judged on four basic criteria: originality, impact, challenge and value.

The winners will be honored October 2 at a cocktail reception at the American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore. They will be profiled in a special magazine to be included in the October 4 edition of The Daily Record.

Sponsors of The Daily Record's 2013 Innovator the Year awards include Stevenson University, title sponsor; and Epsilon Registration and VPC, Inc., vision sponsors.
