CyberPoint's CATO Platform Assessed at US Army Cyber Quest 2018

Fort Gordon, GA, July 3, 2018 — This past Thursday (June 28) marked the completion of the United States Army CyberQuest 2018 put on by the Cyber Battle Lab, the Cyber Center of Excellence and the Intel Center of Excellence. Just as in 2017, CyberQuest was held at Ft. Gordon in Augusta Georgia. CyberPoint's CATO system was one of the technologies involved in CyberQuest 2018. Our team was partnered with Army personnel at a remote mock company headquarters where we worked to exercise features for 802.11 surveys, assessment and network enumeration. Even in the summer heat, we were very proud to see CATO meet or exceed requirements set forth during exercise planning that took place throughout the year. We were able to achieve multiple forms of wireless (802.11) network interaction outdoors at distances greater than 700 meters using default transmit power.

US Army assessed CATO at its annual Cyber Quest 2018 event

CyberPoint CTO Mark McLarnon was present during the exercise and had this to say: "Once again, the Army demonstrates commitment to cybersecurity and I am very, very proud to have worked alongside men and women in uniform who were not only very skilled, but extremely dedicated to their mission and to our country. I only hope I can work with them again in the future."

Commenting on CATO's performance during the exercise, Mark states "Not only is the CATO platform very valuable to us commercially now, but the CATO appliance is a very powerful tool for conducting cyber missions downrange or on the move and when paired with battery (or solar) power, external antenna(s) and GPS location information, it provides a reach and functionality that is tough to match especially when you consider our price point. Seeing performance past 700 meters is rewarding to me and is a testament to the hard work of the CATO developers."

Cyber Quest is a multiweek exercise in cyber and electronic warfare exploration and collaboration. Plans are already in progress for Cyber Quest 2019.
