COLUMBIA, MD (August 8, 2024) — This summer, CyberPoint has once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing future tech leaders through its highly-regarded internship program. Four exceptional interns immersed themselves in cutting-edge projects, gaining hands-on experience in cybersecurity, software development, and data science. Their work not only highlighted their individual talents but also underscored the value of collaborative, real-world problem-solving.
This year, the interns tackled a pivotal challenge: enhancing CyberPoint's interactive training environments. Building on the company's tradition of engaging students and industry professionals with practical problems, the interns developed a sophisticated, web-based application designed to streamline the creation and management of cybersecurity training environments.
The interns' innovation involved automating the deployment of virtual environments using tools such as Ansible. This system allows for the effortless setup of customized training scenarios at the touch of a button, complete with real-time validation of objectives. Their project also integrated machine learning to verify progress and assist instructors in crafting new training modules and challenges.
Kellan Elhai, one of the interns, reflected on his experience, saying, "During this internship, I enjoyed the difficulty and challenge of the project, along with the reward of developing from the ground up. Interacting with my fellow interns and designing this project was an experience that I'll never forget."
Sarah Kee, another intern, echoed this sentiment, stating, "I have enjoyed my time here at CyberPoint International. I was challenged with the project given and learned a lot about new technologies and collaborating with a team. It was great to connect with the other interns and have an overall fulfilling experience."
Adam Leatherman appreciated the autonomy given to him during his internship, noting, "Having the freedom to manage my own contributions and make decisions without constant oversight was incredibly empowering. It allowed me to take ownership of my work, foster my problem-solving skills, and build confidence in my abilities. My supervisor's trust and minimal micromanagement created an environment where I could thrive and learn more effectively. I also loved the flexibility regarding working remotely when needed!"
Ian Morrill highlighted the collaborative spirit among the interns, saying, "I really liked the other interns and my mentor; I feel like we all really worked well with each other!"
CyberPoint prides itself on fostering a supportive corporate environment, where interns have ample opportunities to engage with their supervisors and mentors. This personal touch is a key aspect of the internship program, with many interns citing it as one of their favorite aspects of the experience.
The success of this summer's internship program reaffirms CyberPoint's dedication to developing the next generation of tech professionals while advancing the field of cybersecurity through innovative solutions.
