BALTIMORE, MD (August 20, 2013) — Fears, some well-founded, have been driving the conversation about whether or not to use technology products made in foreign countries, particularly those made in China. The unavoidable truth is, that we already use foreign-made technologies every day. From our smart phones, to our cable boxes, to the computers we use at home and in the office, foreign-made technologies are an integral part of our everyday lives. It may be easier for today's large enterprises to avoid using some technologies made overseas in the short-term, but what about five, ten, twenty years from now? The globalization of the technology supply chain is accelerating rapidly, trading partnerships are creating very real economic interdependencies between nations, and the demand for innovation from overseas suppliers is only growing. Avoiding foreign technology cannot remain a viable solution for long (if it's even viable now). At some point, we're going to have to start taking practical steps to answer the security concerns and reduce the sometimes very real risks of using technologies that were not made in our own backyard.
CyberPoint created the Prescient business unit back in 2010 to start to look for tangible and practical solutions to these extremely difficult challenges. Yesterday, in an article published in Bloomberg, we were happy to see that our voice and our solutions, were an important part of the conversation. While the article clearly offered a number of contrary opinions about our approach, we are genuinely excited to hear that adding US-built and installed security measures to technology products made overseas is finally becoming part of the conversation. With some of the greatest minds and most innovative companies in cyber security right here in the United States, there is no better place to develop the innovative and practical solutions needed to answer the very real security challenges we face. "Made overseas, secured in America" is what Prescient is all about. Learn more about the Prescient Program.
The US Government and private sector are always looking for new and innovative products to meet their needs, but are unable to take advantage of the global marketplace due to uncertainties over foreign-owned products and technologies. Prescient is designed to help overcome those challenges. It helps foreign-owned companies build trust with potential customers and enhance their products in order to open up new markets in the US. Prescient provides both foreign and domestic commercial technology companies one of the fastest, most comprehensive and inexpensive methods to successfully enter the US Federal and commercial marketplace.
